Travelin' Coxes...

Sorry for the long hiatus. The Cox family spent the past month traveling around during our Christmas break. Seeing as classes begin tomorrow, I thought now would be a good time to reflect on our travels.

We began our trip in Hot-lanta. I bought tickets to the 99x Mistle Toe Jam for Jeremy's birthday, because two of his favorite bands, The Shins and Modest Mouse, were playing.

It was absolutely freezing in Atlanta that night, and, of course, we parked about a half mile from the concert site. The temperature was about 17 degrees with a wind chill in the single digits. I think the cold I've had the whole vacation is a result of that evening.

Before the concert, we had an amazingly good dinner at a restaurant called Maggiano's. FANTASTIC Italian food. Jeremy enjoyed the best steak I have ever tasted, while I had delicious alfredo tortellini!

They're located all over the country, so if there is one near you, I highly recommend it.

Next, we went by the University of Florida, Jeremy's alma mater. We had a nice visit there at his journalism building, Weimer Hall.

After a great visit with Jeremy's parents in Winter Haven, and a quick but fun trip over to Maitland to see Val and Mark, we went over to mom and Rich's in Melbourne for Christmas Eve.

We visited the kids' school, and mom and Jeremy got recruited to help with a Christmas project in Julianne's class.

Here's Jeremy helping with snowflakes:

And Mom making something with ribbons that I could not identify, while Jules made a reindeer out of construction paper:

As has become tradition, we celebrated Christmas on the 24th. It was a bountiful celebration.

Jules was a little sleepy, but she perked up after getting her iPod and various other toys.

Richard and Sadie unwrapped presents, too.

The puppies, Jeremy, and I unwrapped gifts in our stockings. I got a pedometer and some other fun goodies. Jeremy got some headphones and the puppies got so much stuff we could barely close their box of stuff.

We enjoyed a wonderful ham dinner, and overall, it was a wonderful trip.

Please see part II for the rest of our travel adventures.

If you move back to Raleigh, you can have Maggiano's any time you want because there is one at the Streets at Southpoint! :)
